This year, I was promoted to a manager. So I am at the same level with Kevin, who is my mentor and partner, working in Indonesia. But I feel that there is a big gap between me and him in points of work performance and capabilities. Let’s see how he makes contributions and accomplishments at work and what I should do to move forward. He has many strengths. First of all, he does every job carefully so that he checks every detail at work and finds meaningful points. On the other hand, I tend to be somewhat careless at details on jobs and occasionally miss some points. Secondly, he has various ideas on issues at work. I have a tendency to see matters superficially whereas Kevin is good at categorizing issues one by one and finding important points in them. Last but not least, he communicates well, especially with management. Since he organizes what he has to say well with concrete structures and uses easy to understand words, he finds favor with the management.
