제목 | It’s hard for Koreans to say I’m sorry #5 | 등록일 | 2015-07-21 |
---|---|---|---|
내용 | Interestingly, I’ve noticed that some Koreans often use “I’m sorry” when they really have to apologize to others because of big wicked act such as violence or deceit. They want to substitute only the word “I’m sorry” for proper apology. This is a serious misuse of “I’m sorry”, too.In this sense, the former famous phrase in <Love story> has been misunderstood for many Koreans by mistranslation. Jeniffer’s “never having to say you’re sorry” didn’t means that Oliver didn’t need to apologize to her. What she wanted to mean was just Oliver didn’t need to have any burden in his mind because of such a trivial stuff. As far as we can admit such a small fault willingly each other, that’s love, she said. So Korean translation should be revised like this. If you love me, you don’t need to have any burden in your mind because of such a trivial stuff. It’s time to wrap up of my speech. |
